Once a month there’s a giant flea market in Amsterdam North called, IJ-Hallen (check out the link to see just how giant of a market this is). When I was last there, I picked up these wonderful coffee cups from the 60/70s made in Bavaria. I think they will be great friends with my Marimekko tea pot, posted here.

Who knew George Harrison was such a hipster.

Photos of him and Pattie Boyd in the Bahamas while shooting the film Help!

Spring is slowly creeping in on us as I start to notice bike lights are (almost) no longer necessary for the commute in the morning and evening, birds are chirping and boots and sweaters no long feel cozy. Spring cleaning is also coming into effect as I’ve started on the giant task of cleaning out my closet, so I can update my style and my life.

So what did I do this weekend you ask? Out of many wonderful things including drinks, birthday parties and shopping sprees, I cut up magazines of things that inspire me and collaged them on our kitchen table. These are some snippets – you may see cute animals, vintage photos, Danish furniture, holiday escapes and somehow Ewan McGregor also snuck in there.

Here’s to spring!

In continuation of the Danish theme going on here, I couldn’t help but think of Jørgen Leth’s short film, The Perfect Human, from 1967.

Enjoy!

A collection of some items left behind in Iowa, while although they are far away, they make quite a nice collage and are far from forgotten.

Top: Old Folgers Coffee tins received as a Christmas gift
Left: Puppy lamp I stole from my Mom’s stash to sell on ebay
Right: Various magazines from a garage sale years ago
Bottom Left: Vintage postcard found in London
Bottom Right: Dog figurine found in Waverly’s Trinkets and Togs

Rosti Christmas

Christmas is over and I’m still having good memories about our wonderful time spent in Iowa. Luckily I don’t just need memories because I also arrived back in Amsterdam with a few new goodies, such as these Danish Rosti Mepal spoons which each of us found in our Christmas Socks.

After having a bit of fun with our new colorful Rostis, they have now found a home next the stove in a pretty little tin I had sitting around.

Another great little find on Rosti found here on Apartment Therapy.

See you next year Thanksgiving

Inspiration from the week. Good thing Christmas is on its way!

Ohhh Mary…

Celebrating in Style

Nothing like celebrating one more year lived, with a little help from my (sixties) friends. Lucky for us the 60s never left our apartment and we just needed to add the attire to make it a perfect night; equipped with plenty of Tom Collins, games of Yahtzee, twisting dance moves, candy cigarettes and of course a Mad Men slide show (too bad there was no Kodak Carousel).

Thanks everyone for a great night…you all looked fabulous.

And thanks for the wonderful gifts. Until next time…

Can’t help but be inspired.

What great weather for a picnic! And how nice it would be to go frolic in the grass, in a flowery dress, carrying this picnic set as seen at the shop filled with mid-century treasures, Neef Louis.

Your friends have no idea what to think. Mid-century modest is best!
