Spring is slowly creeping in on us as I start to notice bike lights are (almost) no longer necessary for the commute in the morning and evening, birds are chirping and boots and sweaters no long feel cozy. Spring cleaning is also coming into effect as I’ve started on the giant task of cleaning out my closet, so I can update my style and my life.

So what did I do this weekend you ask? Out of many wonderful things including drinks, birthday parties and shopping sprees, I cut up magazines of things that inspire me and collaged them on our kitchen table. These are some snippets – you may see cute animals, vintage photos, Danish furniture, holiday escapes and somehow Ewan McGregor also snuck in there.

Here’s to spring!

A collection of some items left behind in Iowa, while although they are far away, they make quite a nice collage and are far from forgotten.

Top: Old Folgers Coffee tins received as a Christmas gift
Left: Puppy lamp I stole from my Mom’s stash to sell on ebay
Right: Various magazines from a garage sale years ago
Bottom Left: Vintage postcard found in London
Bottom Right: Dog figurine found in Waverly’s Trinkets and Togs

Elephant Mag

My new best friend is Elephant. And what an amazing magazine it is! I’m completely inspired to do some old-school Soviet photomontaging. I’m thinking Lissitzky, Klutsis with some Rodchenko thrown in.

It’s so nicely designed but my favorite part is the table of contents (below). Who knew something like that could be so exciting?

Video for a new magazine coming out: Anthology!

Aren’t her outfits great as well?

Polish Design

This weekend I received an email from a friend of mine who was looking through her favorite Polish magazines and came across this lovely image that reminded her of me. I love that this reminded her of me but I think it’s also a great idea how this was patchworked together with all different fabrics to create such a variance of texture and depth.

Anyone want a cooked soccerball?

Thanks Kasia!
